Event Assistant - Internship

Time Fraction: September – December, average 1 day per week
Remuneration: Unpaid internship opportunity
Location: QMF Office, Queenscliff

The Role

Kick start your events career as an Event Assistant, supporting our team across planning and onsite delivery for our annual festival, Queenscliff Town Hall Concert Series and the AMPLIFY Youth Program.

You'll be a key support for our Youth Program Coordinator, our Volunteer Coordinator and provide operational support behind the scenes including:

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of multiple Youth Committee led events, culminating in the Foot-in-the-Door Competition at the Queenscliff Music Festival.

  • Support volunteer coordination activities including induction, training, rostering and registration.

  • Support ticketing and accreditation for Festival staff, volunteers and guests.

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of regular shows as part of the Town Hall Concert Series.

  • Support event marketing activities including social media content creation and promotion.

  • Understand QMF Inc organisational structure and rhythm and support business processes and the governing Board.

  • Support information management by keeping accurate records, collating compliance documentation and undertaking data entry tasks.

  • Provide on-site operational support to the event team during the Queenscliff Music Festival weekend.

    ABOUT YOU:

    Key Skills & Experience 

    • A strong interest in live music, events, and the performing arts

    • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a broad range of stakeholders, including young people and volunteers

    • Strong administrative and organisational skills and attention to detail

    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

    • Reliability and a proactive attitude, especially in dynamic, fast-paced settings

    • Willingness to take initiative and solve problems on the spot and the ability to show flexibility and adaptability to changing situations

    • Experience in, or basic knowledge of, event operations is desirable (but not essential)

    • Experience in customer service, volunteering, or events (formal or informal) is an advantage

    Availability across the festival weekend (27-29 November) and during lead-up planning sessions is ESSENTIAL
