History

Set amongst the stands of old and momentous Cypress trees in Lower Princess Park, Queenscliff Music Festival (QMF) presents the festival attendee with a backdrop of stunning views of Port Phillip, Sorrento and the Queenscliff Harbour. Combine the ingredients of the unique musical experiences, the wonder of wandering amongst the historic buildings of Queenscliff, and being up close and personal to a diverse range of contemporary Australian music, and you have a perfect recipe for a truly magical weekend.

Queenscliff Music Festival (QMF) is an innovative 3- day cultural/music event held in the quaint township of Queenscliff. Located on the Bellarine Peninsula, we are just 35kms from Geelong and just 100kms (an easy and scenic 1 1⁄2 hours) from Melbourne.

QMF is an incorporated association, registered not- for-profit cultural organisation that is community based, and provides a unique and significant contribution to the Australian contemporary Music Industry.

QMF was founded in 1997 by a small band of locals keen to increase the value of tourism to the local economy and to promote Queenscliff’s unique characteristics. The last weekend of November was chosen as the best date, as it represented a particularly quiet period of tourist activity at that time.

QMF’s vision of creating “a contemporary Australian Music Festival that inspires” through our values of “excellence, discovery and community spirit” has driven the festivals evolution and maturity. From humble beginnings in 1997 with 1460 punters and just 23 volunteers, QMF has grown over the years and is now a highly successful festival with over 12,000 Intidivudal attendees and more than 500 volunteers annually, providing a significant boost to Queenscliff and Bellarine tourism.
