Title: Festival Director, Queenscliff Music Festival

Reports to: Queenscliff Music Festival Inc. Board

Organisational Context

Queenscliff Music Festival Inc. is a not-for-profit community-based organisation that annually presents the Queenscliff Music Festival on the last weekend in November, as well as producing smaller events including the Queenscliff Town Hall Concert Series and FOOT-in-the-DOOR FReeZA Program.

The Queenscliff Music Festival showcases contemporary live music performances in the seaside town of Queenscliff in regional Victoria. We are supported by approximately 400 event volunteers and present 60+ artists, across 10+ venues over 3 days each year.

The next Queenscliff Music Festival will be held from 22-24 November 2024 and will be the 26th Festival.

This is the perfect opportunity to join a small but passionate team of people to deliver this unique event. The Festival Director is one of the senior leaders of the organisation and works closely with the Board and General Manager on driving the strategic direction of the organisation and its programs.

Role

The Festival Director leads the delivery of the annual Queenscliff Music Festival and provides expertise in:

  • the development and execution of the Festival program;
  • the coordination and planning or event operations; and
  • the marketing and promotion of the event to maximise engagement and attendance.  

The Festival Director supports Queenscliff Music Festival Inc. to maintain its strong community-base and to uphold its reputation and stature within the Australian music industry.  

The Queenscliff Music Festival Inc Board are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Arts and Events Leaders who can demonstrate some/all of the following skill sets:

  • Ability to plan for, coordinate and successfully deliver large scale music festivals or events, including overseeing event production elements, site operations, infrastructure, logistics and recruitment of event personnel
  • Ability to drive and implement the artistic direction of the Festival program.
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk management and key regulatory requirements for music events, as well as the ability to manage and implement event plans including emergency management, noise management and waste management.
  • Ability to undertake financial planning, including budget monitoring and reporting.
  • An industry leader with connections across the live music, festival and events industries, with the ability to build networks and publicly represent the Festival and the organisation.
  • Experience in brand and marketing management, including social media content development, digital and traditional advertising, and music industry specific media and publicity opportunities.
  • A collaborative team player with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to engage with artists, technical contractors, service providers, sponsors and partners, Government authorities, local community organisations and volunteers.
