About the Artist

Tjaka is a trailblazing music trio from Meanjin/ Brisbane, consisting of two Fabila brothers, Geoff and Jake, and their close friend Felix Fogarty. The name Tjaka is derived from Tjakamarra, the skin name given to the Fabila brothers, who are proud descendants of the Jabirr Jabirr tribe in the Western Australian Kimberleys. They connect to their Indigenous roots through their music, crafting a contemporary experience influenced by hip-hop, funk, electronic, and reggae. Their vision is to showcase the connection between the old and the new, with a uniquely modern delivery of their ancient culture. Playing nationally at Splendour in the Grass, BIGSOUND, Dark Mofo, and internationally at PASIWALI in Taiwan, Tjaka has quickly developed into an unmissable live act. Their high-energy bangers introduce the use of the Didjeribone (a slide Didgeridoo) and the Facebass (a seismic microphone placed inside the mouth), blending them with electric guitar, fiery vocals and looped programming to not just continue what their predecessors started, but take it even further.
