Velvet Bloom is a genre-blending collective fusing soul, pop, funk, folk and indie into rich, cinematic soundscapes. Fronted by the soulful and magnetic Maddy Herbert, the band crafts emotionally charged music that blends captivating vocals, intricate arrangements and a bold sonic identity. The group first gained national attention with their 2022 EP Glimmer, which launched a national tour and secured major Spotify playlisting. Soon after, Velvet Bloom appeared on ABC’s Spick and Specks and performed at landmark venues including MONA and the NGV.

In 2025, Velvet Bloom released their self-titled debut album, a deeply expressive and sonically adventurous record supported by a 23-date national tour backed by Creative Australia. The album received widespread acclaim, with Triple J Unearthed’s Claire Mooney naming it “one of the best releases of 2025” and describing Maddy as “one of the most special vocalists in the country.” Multiple tracks topped the AMRAP charts, earning strong national community radio support, while the record was named Album of the Week on 3RRR FM and SYN FM, featured in Bandcamp’s New & Notable, and received editorial support across Spotify and Apple Music including New Music Friday, Breaking R&B, Fresh Finds and Jazz Cafe.

That same year, Velvet Bloom won St Kilda Festival’s New Music Competition, secured a distribution deal with Yama-Nui Records and showcased at BIGSOUND 2025. 2026 has already seen the band continue their rapid rise with main stage performances at St Kilda & Mordi Fest, a support slot with Jazz Party at Howler, a performance at Vivid Sydney with Coterie and the signing of a publishing deal with Community Music. With a sophomore album on the way alongside a forthcoming EP recorded with Angus & Julia Stone, Velvet Bloom continue to cement their place as one of Australia’s most compelling emerging groups.
