Suren Jayemanne is a comedian, writer, actor, budding home cook and former tax accountant. With more than 10 years of stand-up under his belt, he’s become a regular at Australia’s major comedy festivals, performing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe and receiving the prestigious Moosehead Award in 2023 for his show The Bag of Vegeta.

His debut one-hour stand up special aired on ABC’s Comedy Next Gen, and he’s appeared on The Weekly, Celebrity Letters & Numbers, The Cook Up with Adam Liaw, Comedy Up Late, Tonightly and SBS Food’s Good Tucker. He’s even popped up in Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder — although you’ll need to look closely.

As a writer, Suren has contributed to Question Everything, The Weekly, Spicks and Specks, Tonight at the Museum and more, while working in writers’ rooms for Goalpost Pictures and Guesswork TV. He was also selected for the 2020 AFTRS and Screen Australia National Talent Camp.

Drawing on his experiences as an Australian with Sri Lankan heritage, Suren’s comedy blends sharp observations, topical humour and the ridiculous. Away from the stage, he’s embracing his newest role yet: being a dad.
