South Atlas
About the Artist
Soul-stirring folk rock psychedelia to get your hips swaying, South Atlas is a four-piece folk-rock psychodelia band from Victoria’s Surf Coast, Australia, led by award-winning singer-songwriter Lachy Hurrell. Rooted in rhythm, land, and story, their music weaves melodic harmonies with folk-rock psychedelia, a sound shaped by the salt air and open skies of Wadawurrung Country. The band honed their craft in a humble beach shack before releasing their self-titled debut EP in 2025, earning a devoted local following through their energetic shows. These guys are tight musically and bound to get the soul stirring and hips swaying.
Frontman Lachy Hurrell brings a deep sense of place and purpose to South Atlas. His songs are inspired by country, connection, and the shared human journey back to heart. He has opened for Australian music legends such as Shane Howard (Goanna), sung for the protection of Tasmania’s ancient forests and southern seas, and performed across this vast continent.
Supported by a songwriting grant, Hurrell spent months on Yolŋu Country in north-east Arnhem Land, immersed in the wisdom of humanity's oldest continuous culture, a life-changing experience that continues to weave its threads. Together, South Atlas craft music that feels both timeless and grounded: stories carried by harmony, driven by spirit, and deeply tied to the community they call home.
