Magic Dirt
About the Artist
Magic Dirt emerged from Geelong in 1991 and quickly became one of Australia’s most influential alternative rock bands. Led by the magnetic Adalita, the band built a fierce reputation through explosive live shows and a string of acclaimed releases including Friends In Danger, Young and Full of the Devil, and Tough Love.
Known for their raw mix of sludge, punk, pop hooks and feedback-drenched rock, Magic Dirt toured extensively across Australia and internationally, sharing stages with bands like Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth and Pavement, while becoming festival favourites at the Big Day Out and Splendour in the Grass.
Following the tragic passing of founding bassist Dean Turner in 2009, the band stepped away before reuniting years later to honour his legacy. Decades on, Magic Dirt remain a vital force in Australian rock, revered for their chemistry, influence, and legendary high-energy performances.
