Fast-paced and infectious, Charley Castle’s old-is-new brand of bluegrass marries bygone country and folk with modern sensibilities, and a familiar Australian essence. With her Boys in the Well, she leads acoustic guitar, double bass and mandolin, with harmonies galore.  

The quartet were the 2025 champions of Tamworth Country Music Festival’s ‘Best of the Buskers’ Competition, which saw them play the festival’s biggest stage to record crowds.

Charley was a student at the CMAA Academy of Country Music 2023, the winner of the Australian National Busking Championships Best Vocals Award 2023 and was twice shortlisted for the ASA Australian Songwriting Contest in 2020. She has shared the stage with the likes of The Bushwackers, and Kevin Bennett and the Flood, and supported Aussie icons Daryl Brathwaite, Brian Cadd, You Am I, and Thirsty Merc.
