Fenn Wilson is an award-winning young singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula, now based in Melbourne. His debut EP Tales Of The Black Dog dealt with themes of heartbreak, love and redemption.
He is currently preparing for his first full length studio album Ghost Heroin (co-produced by Shannon Bourne at Thirty Mill Studios) and has been recording with Chris Parkinson in SA and Colin Wynne in Melbourne to ensure his beautiful songs, deep, rich voice and dynamic electric guitar are presented to best advantage.
Fenn’s musical career really kicked off in 2018 where he held the Port Gospel Session audience at the Port Fairy Folk Festival in the palm of his hand when he performed ‘John The Revelator’, and later that year he was named the Queenscliff Music Festival’s Emerging Artist of the Year. This award and its cash prize enabled him to fund his debut album. In 2019 Fenn was announced as the Port Fairy Folk Festival Emerging Artist of the Year too.
Since moving to the city in 2017, Fenn has spent much of his time honing his craft, touring and playing in bands with other young Melbourne musicians creating opportunities to reach a much wider audience. He has staged shows at venues such as The Worker’s Club, The Old Bar, The Drunken Poet, The Yarra Hotel, The Evelyn and The Union Hotel. He was also a guest on the Channel 31 music program, 1700 and has performed live on 3RRR and ABC Melbourne.
Fenn’s voice is deep, resonant and emotive, and expressive well beyond his years. His songwriting forms a snapshot of his recent past; brushes with heartache, depression, world-weariness and uncertainty, and often lightened with compassionate observation, love and redemption. Think George Ezra with Nick Cave’s early songbook.
As well as vocals and guitar, Fenn is also an accomplished drummer. He toured with late father Chris Wilson and guitarist Shannon Bourne as Skronkadoodledoo between 2016-2018, and drums with his brother George’s band, Pollyman.
Although he doesn’t have a lot of music or performances to his name as yet, Fenn Wilson has been clearly identified by the Australian music industry and music lovers alike as an artist to watch...
“Fenn Wilson is a supremely talented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Live and on record, he is mesmerising...quite magical” - Caroline Moore, Director, Port Fairy Folk Festival.
