Lily and King are a quirky, acoustic junkyard - blissful, beautiful and a bit dirty and wicked too.
They play hot Dixieland punk dotted with haunting seaside lullabies and rambunctious street corner stomp. Their set sits somewhere between a captivating 40's nightclub routine and the raw and reckless spirit of New Orleans street buskers.
With a toy piano, squashed trombone, banjo, violin, half a drum kit and one old guitar, a Lily & King show is a truly wild and joyful experience.
(Lisa Baird) started playing trombone as she saw it as an easy way to meet dysfunctional men.
She also plays toy piano, percussion and sings. King (Tony King) is a double-bass player who prefers to play guitar, banjo, foot drums and sing at the same time because it's easier than carrying a double bass through city laneways. |
